A symbol of hope | RT visits a town on the front line
For most, the ‘hammer and sickle’ is a symbol of Russia’s past, but for some caught up in the conflict in Ukraine, it’s a symbol for the present, and it’s a symbol for hope. As the ever-changing face of the front line sees soldiers and equipment come and go, the ever-present reality for civilians is the threat of shelling by Ukrainian forces, or having their homes and schools turned into bases for war.
In the town of Belogorovka, the hammer and sickle gives hope that an end to the conflict may be in sight. RT’s Murad Gazdiev examines the troops and equipment on the front line, and talks to the civilians caught up in the conflict.
