how about NOT using split-rings of any kind... the rims should be one solid piece not 2-3 pieces no matter how locked into position they are.
any weakness when dealing with high pressures will cause massive catastrophic failures.

Most of this is OLD technology - the real split rims, only antique vehicle dealers will come across them, and the split ring rim, they are on the way out, don't see them around much any more.... it's just good to know about old technology and assorted hazards from yesteryear....

Yeah one more thing I never knew about - "Split Rims" and "Split Ring Rims" - I never knew about the first type and I didn't know there was the two types... and they have TWO distinctly different names.

I did know about the whole issue of inflating truck tyres in cages, because of the generally dangerous issues around inflating the split (ring) rims and normal modern truck tyres are inflated to 120 PSI......

I mean I don't really give a fuck... but it's ONE thing to consider or remember if you ever work on old truck wheels... and they are the split rim type.... "Oh it's gone flat, I'll just pump it back up" ===> "Fucking Whambo!" and there you go...

I admit I've heard of them and that they're unbelievably dangerous, but aside from that I know almost nothing!
