The Tetra Pak UHT (ultra high temperature pasturisation) milk is real milk but the aseptic (sterile and germ proof) packaging, is a special deal - I prefer the taste of the UHT milk..
I am not putting anything to the test but the packaging - if kept in the dark and cool dry places, tends to last forever... though they say the use by date is like 7 months for milk.

UHT milk in Tetra Paks is cheaper because it's economical to make the milk and the packaging like that, it avoids seasonal fluctuations, in terms of use and storage and manufacturing.
The rectangular boxes are very compact and stack up in cardboard boxes and they palletise and transport very well, and they dont need refrigeration, and the shelf life is very very long, and they are about as minimal in terms of handling = costs, as you can get.
Where are plain pasturised milk, has a very short shelf life, must be pasturised, and then immediately chilled and kept very cold and transported and sold very cold, and it has a very short storage life, and once taken home and opened - the milk must be used up very quickly or it soon goes rancid - like women heading out of their early 20's.
Also fresh milk usually has large amounts of manual handling, which really drives up the cost.
I for one just use full cream powdered milk - because you can make coffee - a spoon of coffee, a spoon of powdered milk (sugar to taste), and some cold water stir it up in the cup and then add hot water on a cold day or just make iced coffee on a hot day with more cold water....
See also transporting food on a motor bike, well 1 Kg of powdered milk makes 7 or 8 liters, so 2 Kg of powdered milk makes 16 liters..
16 liters of fresh milk or UHT milk, weighs 16 Kilos and takes up a lot of storage space etc..
That is how I got into powdered milk on a full time basis... necessity and practical reasons - and doing a fortnightly shop on a motorbike - space and weight are critical issues...
The 2Kg of powdered milk, leaves 14 other cubic liters, of packing space and 14 Kg of weight, for other foods and ingredients...
Got to save that money for the Kazakh #3 prostitute.
