Another British city descends into lawless machete fights

Southend-On-Sea, in the east of England (not to be confused with Southport, in the north of England), was the venue for this latest machete fight in the streets and outside the seaside resort’s amusement park. Four men armed with machetes began hacking away at each other in the town center, followed by further fighting at Marine Parade. The gang warfare spilled over as dozens, if not hundreds filled the streets as police desperately ‘attempted’ to regain control. Videos of the confrontation on the beach show several officers springing into inaction, remaining passive observers to the carnage unfolding.

Police resorted to the Englishman’s most powerful weapon: the strongly worded letter (known in police parlance as a ‘dispersal order’). The strongly worded letter will remain in place until Wednesday evening, giving police a license to confiscate unlawful machetes. The ‘anti-social behavior’ (as the police framed it) led to six arrests and ‘several lines of enquiry.’ British politicians, quick to condemn the events in Southport, were surprisingly silent about the events in Southend, with only MP Nigel Farage offering comment. ‘Our country is being destroyed, our values trashed and the public on the point of revolt,’ he said.
