The English language is a funny old thing. Sometimes, the same word can mean more than one thing, which can be extremely confusing to those new to the language. Joe Biden is not new to the language, but he has made an entire career out of convincing people he is.

Biden was approached by reporters and asked questions on Israel’s latest airstrikes against targets in Yemen. For once, Biden did not aimlessly shuffle past, and instead puffed out his chest and gave a presidential answer to a presidential question. Just not the question he was asked. ‘I’ve spoken to both sides. They gotta settle the strike. I’m supporting the collective bargaining effort. I think they’ll settle the strike.’ He was talking about the proposed dockworkers’ strike, which could see several US ports in the east and south closed. At the time of writing, Israel have not bombed US dockworkers.
