Hmmmmmm I think this is an excellent photo. I think perhaps they were so inspired by the original, that they decided to replicate it.

Kind of like when Maxell and cassette tapes - and their wear over many plays, was a genuine issue - of the bonding of the magnetic medium to the polyester (?) film, and the magnetic medium would gradually wear off - sometimes quickly on cheap tapes and bad batches and some times very slowly over very good quality tapes.... So the Maxell companies claim that even after 500 plays your sound quality from the cassette tapes would be so good that you would be "Blown Away" - hence the "Blown Away Man" advertisment from 1988-ish.

That WAS a stunning picture for it's time.

So maybe the Taliban was using the same PR company that manufactured the pulling down of the Saddam Hussain Statue footage. That was another fabricated PR stunt in it's own right.
