Music: Decapitated - Day 69

Hmmmmmm - I like legit explosive devices for legit reasons....

You know like high energy - high rate (explosive) welding say, stainless steel plate to copper plate, or high energy forming, or piercing holes in steel and concrete etc...

But war is generally speaking - such a corporate suck in - people are easy to mislead and manipulate.

AND the other main trouble with explosives, is that it's at the limits of extreme, in terms of worldly events, and the devestation from small explosions can easily cause huge injuries, and the damage from larger explosions - just wipe out individuals and by standers alike.

The issue is that it's basically instant - not like getting it wrong when sawing down a tree - where it's usually harmless and the damage is minor and if it isn't you can run for your life and rebuild the house the tree landed on...

When explosives go badly - that is it, there is no "second chance" or the opportunity to "get it right, the next time".

This is why the entire industry is based upon NOT repeating the mistakes of the past, that did send lots of people into oblivion.

This is why policies, proceedures, materials, tightly controlling the materials, the production process and the packaging and storing and the shelf life of different products and issues of temperature, material compatability, different metals etc....

Some things are really dangerous... and you would never think it in a million years.

Ether - because it has a very LOW boiling point of I think it was 33*C, it means that you could have an enclosed washing and degreasing system, when you put the engine in the housing , spray it with ether, and then separate out the dirt and grit from the liquid and then distill the ether out of the oils, at 40*C and then reuse the ether....

BUT as a ONCE through process, with proper cleaning of all the machinery and pipes etc.. ether makes an excellent solvent, but when in contact with different metals, light, and in a recirculation system, it undergoes all these chemical changes to become a highly sensitive high explosive.... The explosive forms on all the different surfaces AND through out the liquid....

It's the same with Acetylene Gas... if you run it at too high a pressure, it can detonate and worse, if you run it through copper piping, the acetylene reacts with the copper to form a shock sensitive high explosive...

AND worse if you deliberately run acetylene through powdered copper with the intention of manufacturing an explosive.....

Ehhhhh - don't want to go there...

Then there are usually kiddies clowning around with brake fluid and chlorine pool tablets, or people making home brew house cleaners...

Ahhhhhh......

Or worse people - usually kiddies - making explosives from internet recipies and trying shit out - some times it's just kids fucking around - and other times it's people with imaginary or real agendas - and they get the chemistry or the production process's wrong and fucking BANG! - up they go.

It's the issue that there is basically NO margin of error, when it does go wrong.

Some things might burn like an oily rag.

Some things might flare up into a big fire ball.

And some things might go "POW!" and send you into low earth orbit as a puff of smoke.

I think explosives as a legitimate industrial / farm / mining / earth moving / construction / demolition / manufacturing process - is a GOOD THING.

I think really comprehensive training is a necessity.

I think quality product - with all the known hazards and limitations, is essential.

Fucking around with it - naaaaaa not on.

It's not like resharpening the axe and getting it wrong on your first few goes...

Wrong grind, the edge isn't sharp, you over heated the metal and made it go soft etc...

You can work around that and recover from it.

But with explosives - your fucked - there is no getting it right the next time around.

It's like that cunt sitting in a car, fucking around with the hand grenade, seeing what is in it..... I'd be happy to dismantle a hand grenade, IF i had the proper manual for that hand grenade, and IF I had the proper tools for that hand grenade, and I had a GOOD instructor who was familiar with that hand grenade, AND I had been able to practice dismantling a few dummy versions of that hand grenade... and I could do it on a nice earthed thick steel table, in a nice, well lit room..... yeah sure... He decided to fuck around with it, and he found out. There is no come back, in dealing with explosives, when you get it wrong.. Notice how when his friend saw him pull off the retaining clip / handle and the initiator sprung out... The guy didn't shit bricks - he was out of the car and running before the thought could even cross his mind.... And the dumb cunt fucking with it - didn't smash it through his window and throw it behind the car..... Nope... What is that - a 3 second fuse?

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: Actually this is the value of watching things in great detail - multiple times... the guy with the hand grenade looked like he knew enough about them to pull them apart and fuck with them, inside a car.... because as soon as the initiator (?) sprung out, he was as fast as all fuck - like milliseconds - dropping the grenade and exiting the car... Only people who have combat experience - and training in the use of hand grenades, are that "immediately" fast..... none of this finger in the arse, "Oh where did it go?" shit... they are GONE... vanished, away, out of there and behind some thing..... So I was wrong again...

The last clip with the stick guy looked like he was poking one of those Russian suicide drone's.

Yeah you would think so from the cloud of smoke image way up on the hill, after the kid was poking at something with the stick.... I think the connection is by association. But ahhhh if it's not your's, don't fuck with it... especially in a war zone.... "Well it's a drone and it's got a mortar round strapped to it...... " Maybe take pot shots at it from 100 meters away... Not fucking with it with a short stick - not when they can cripple tanks etc.
