Media Release 196: BPD Releases Body-Worn Camera Footage of Incident After the Minor v. J.O. Football Game
The Birmingham Police Department would like to provide body-worn camera footage to the public from an incident that took place on Thursday, September 14, 2023, after the Minor v. J.O. football game. During the incident, BPD officers took Minor High School’s band director into custody; he was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Harassment, and Resisting Arrest.
Birmingham Police Chief Scott Thurmond met with Mayor Randall Woodfin, City of Birmingham leadership, BPD Leadership, Birmingham City Schools Director Dr. Mark Sullivan, and his leadership team, as well as Jefferson County Schools Superintendent Dr. Walter B. Gonsoulin Jr. and his leadership team.
At the direction of Chief Scott Thurmond, the Birmingham Police Department has released body camera footage to our media partners and to the public on the Birmingham Police Department’s social media platforms.
This incident is under investigation by the Birmingham Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division.
