Brooklyn bishop robbed while livestreaming sermon
Brooklyn bishop Lamor Whitehead was robbed while performing a livestreamed sermon on Sunday, at the Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries church.
The attackers, who were armed, stole around $400,000 worth of jewelry from Whitehead and his wife, including the pair’s wedding rings. The video shows Whitehead saying ‘alright, alright’ before surrendering to a gunman, who then points a gun at his back while committing the robbery. The assailants escaped, despite Whitehead chasing them.
‘When I see them come into the sanctuary with their guns, I told everybody to get out, everybody just get out,’ Whitehead said in a video via his Instagram. ‘I didn’t know if they wanted to shoot the church up or if they were just coming for a robbery.’ No one was hurt during the robbery, although many of the congregation members were ‘traumatized’. A police investigation is ongoing.
