Cops bust drunk man riding lawnmower
A Queensland man took his love of gardening and beer a bit too far, resulting in the slowest police chase known to man. Townsville Highway Patrol pulled the man over in the early hours of Sunday morning, their suspicion aroused by the fact that A) he was driving a riding lawnmower and B) he was in the middle of a main road, where there was a distinct lack of lawn.
‘I just thought I’d drive this old girl over to mow my daughter’s lawn,’ explains the man, reasonably enough.
‘Not at one o’clock in the morning and not drunk,’ replies one of the officers.
The man blew a blood alcohol content of 0.191, four times the legal limit, normally characterized by major loss of coordination and balance (ability to successfully mow lawns is unknown). He was arrested and now awaits a court appearance.
