Craftswomen weave woolen carpets using ancient methods in Turkmenistan
Skilled and talented craftspeople from Ashgabat were seen producing traditional koshma felt carpet using techniques from ancient times. The process begins by shearing sheep, then treating the wool with natural dyes, before preparing the fibers, and weaving and decorating the carpets.
One of the craftswomen explained that she started helping her mother when she was just eight years old, and she remains involved in the production process. She’s passing on her knowledge to the next generations: her 10 children, 29 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
