You may be right. Someone may have kicked him. There are a lot of jerks out there. Where I live, a lot of people especially hate cats, and even dogs. But it could also be something else, like some kind of dental infection. Or it could be a spider bite or bee sting. When I was in high school, I had a cat that was stung by a wasp above his eye. I saw it when it happened. That whole area swelled up really large, and I was very worried, but it went back to normal in a few days. It would have been better to take him to a vet. but we didn't have any extra money. But a couple years ago, I had a cat and his face suddenly started swelling, and his nose widened to twice it's size in about 2 days. He was an indoor cat. They found he had a tumor in his nasal cavity. It grew huge in just a couple days and was still growing. I was told they can grow very fast and are fairly common. Luckily, I had him on insurance and it was a kind of tumor that was very susceptible to a type of chemotherapy that completely destroyed it, a laser form of radiation. He was fine and recovered very well, but due to other unrelated health issues, he was put to sleep about a year afterwards. I also helped a local stray about a year ago. I saw him around the neighborhood a couple years, then I noticed he was going down hill. I caught him and took him to a vet. To examine him, they anesthetized him. I was told he was fine and had him neutered. I shouldn't have done that as he was unwell, but I was going to adopt him and they said he was fine. His blood tests came back great. So, I thought he just needed some TLC. He got worse, however, over the next few days - week. So, I took him to a specialty vet. and they found a tumor under his tongue. He could hardly eat by then, so he was put to sleep. It is hard to find a good vet., too. So, I travel pretty far when I have a serious issue. It saves me money in the long run. Anyway, sorry to write so much, but with cats it is so hard to say what it is. I hope he gets better soon. I'm glad you're there to take care of him. Thanks for what you do.

Don't jump into the conclusion. Take it to the vet.
