Lived in Alaska ~20yrs & also an official Alaskan Native Savage [thanx white man] Every season some dumb fucks from the Lower 48 & elsewhere get ate up by wolves, bears, & trampled by Bullwinkle either by having buckets of Kentucky Fried Chicken [extra crispy] near their fishing spot / hiking around smelling like a French whore or feeding the cute lil' critters. ha-ha-Fucking-ha ... Every Year.

From a few sources I read, it was the bear who started it. Feeding wild animal is always risky. The bloke's reaction severing his own limb was just out of 'bear' necessity.
