i don't really care about reducing my footprint or saving the world from climate change.
however do i care about living within an self sustaining household that creates it's own food, energy and does so all year long, and allows a cheap living lifestyle with all the modern day conveniences you love and more.

the pros outweigh the cons in these type of homes. especially when you consider how much you will save in the end. say for example, you are an individual who works independently. say you only work while online, and you live within one of these homes.

well this kind of home is perfect for you, rarely do you need to go shopping when your home makes it's own food also no need to worry about how much it's going to cost to heat or cool your house or use your electricity, perhaps your house doesn't create enough power as you use. because you are saving so much money by having almost no bills, you now have the ability to purchase the items you need such as more solar panels and hook them up with your system or even install some kind of wind mill depending on the location you chose to live of course.

the point is, you are not limited to what you can do within these homes. you aren't limited to build your house exactly the same as most earthships are built. you have options, but the standard earthship design is designed to keep you off grid. if you don't like that then fine. you can build your earthship however you want it, just might be more expensive that way.
