Yes.... the jolly old Americans imported the Australian eucalyptus trees - and they didn't import all the bugs and diseases that feed on the trees.... Soooooo when the trees grow big in Australia and there is lots of leaf litter on the forest floor and the winds are STRONG and VERY HOT and the amount of burnable fuel on the ground and in the tress in tons per Km square is very high, Fuck Me - a frighteningly BAD forest fire....

The leaves are filled with oil, the oil gets hot and vaporises, and then ignites like a HUGE fire bomb... and add in very strong and hot winds and Oh fuck me - frightening.

But when the now AMERICAN eucalyptus trees grow - without their natural pests, instead of looking like the beat up scraggy old trees with the leaves at the top, they look like fucking GIANT christmas trees with 50 x the amount of leaves on them that the Australian trees have....

And when they catch fire - fuck....

I remember there was a big thing about 20 or 30 years ago, to study and look at importing beetles and fungus and grubs that eat the wood, leaves and roots etc., of the eucalyptus trees - to substantially defoliate them and reduce the burnable leaves and litter on the forest floor - because of the threat of nightmare x 1000 type fires in the American trees...
