Exploding radios target Hezbollah operatives in Lebanon
A second wave of explosions has rocked Lebanon today, once again caused by sabotaged communications equipment used by Hezbollah. Videos from Beirut show a series of small explosions sending plumes of smoke into the air, although there are reports of thousands of explosions across the country. One of the explosions took place near a funeral, organized for three Hezbollah operatives and a child killed by exploding pagers yesterday.
According to Axios, the explosions were caused by walkie-talkies, which had been sabotaged by Israeli intelligence. The radios were covertly supplied to Hezbollah five months ago for use in their emergency communications systems, in a similar manner to the infamous pagers. The radios were, ironically, meant to be used to coordinate an attack on Israel, according to their sources.
