@Doggk: It wasn't acceptable then either. If you read the passage in Genesis, you'll find that the sons lied to Israel, stating he was killed by beasts. Without boring, or giving the impression I'm preaching, there's a lot more to the story.

@Doggk: historically, it is unfortunately true that the spread of Islam was somewhat by subjugation and force, whereas Christianity was more by persuasion. They do have a system that if a person wanted to keep their religion they could but they had to pay a tax called jizya and they were called a dhimmi and they were like second class citizens. Its true that if you went to some places in the middle east and tried to spread Christianity, they would probably kill you.

@sauger1001: Yes, and that's is indeed disturbing. However, it was Aishah own father Abu Bakr (a very close friend to Muhammad PBUH) who initiated the move. During that time, Islam just set it's own self governance in Yathrib and constantly under attack by its' rival from Mecca. Knowing too well how risky each battle can be, it's understandable if Abu Bakr would rather have his daughter to be under the care of Muhammad PBUH if he was ever killed or captured. @hqwebsite: I'm not sure I have much of a problem with the "slavery" aspect but I do think she is too young. The alternative to restricting the rights of women is what we have in the west "equality" and male slavery instead. I do think this video clip is an extreme case and cnn is making these strange innuendos that may be totally inaccurate. Maybe they should do an in depth report about anderson coopers kid having two fathers and how there have been gay couples that adopted kids just to sexually abuse them. We don't need to go as extreme as the example here, but the west is pretty close at this point to allowing gays and chomos to openly sodomizd children so obviously we are in no place to critique this anymore.
