Fury at tourist graffitiing the Colosseum

The entire of the civilized world has condemned a tourist who defaced the Roman Colosseum with some rather banal graffiti. The unnamed man was filmed by another tourist scratching something into the ancient walls without any regard for history or proper penmanship, causing outcry on the internet and a manhunt by Italian police, and even grinned at the camera while doing it.

Gennaro Sangiuliano, Italian Minister of Culture, said it was ‘very serious, unworthy and a sign of great incivility… I hope that whoever made this gesture at the Flavian Amphitheatre will be identified and sanctioned according to our laws.’ Said laws include a punishment of up to $21,000 and a year in prison.
