Heavy And Dead Legs When Running... What To Do?

Hey Bulldogs! John Sonmez from Bulldog Mindset Here, where I teach you how to go from the Victim Mindset to the Bulldog Mindset, how to be a man and how to become the best version of yourself, financially, physically, mentally and socially!

This video is another suggestion from one of you guys, a follower who's a pretty active Bulldog, Grant! and he's asking me about running. Grant's issue is that being an active runner have put him under fatigue and even though he tried to rest for 5 days he still didn't feel much difference. He kept feeling that his legs are heavy and non responsive, Running for only 4 to 5 miles and barely finishing it.

The issue here isn't that Grant can't recover or isn't able to run more than a certain mileage before being able to recover, but rather his fatigue level and fitness level.

What you should keep in mind especially if you're running for long distance is that you've got to time out your fatigue level and fitness level together, so that you fatigue level doesn't overtake our fitness level.

Meaning if you take 2 days to recover after a run of 5 miles, you shouldn't run 8 miles 3 days in in row because you are not allowing your body the time to recover, which results in fatigue accumulating and taking very long to recover.

This also can be the result of not pushing your body hard enough, if you keep running 3 to 5 miles don't expect you will be able to run 12 miles, you should push you barrier far and have days where you run long distance versus days you run short distance.

For me since I'm training for a marathon right now I'm pushing my number weekly but maintaining days where I run short distances.

Because if you get your body used to running 12 miles you'll be able to handle 3 or 5 miles easily even though you're a bit fatigued and allowing your body to recover.

I would also advice you to have running coach or get a program for running as it's proven helpful to have the perspective of someone more familiar with what you're trying to achieve guiding you.

Anyways watch the video till the end, hopefully it's of value to you, and I shall see you in the next video!
