I learned after the Untouchables movie when I was a kid. No one with real power ever gives it up. They just get better at hiding it.
The denigration of men was and continues to be a major part of the strategy to destroy the nuclear family and to make the state the de facto head of the household. I first started noticing this back in the 90s when family sitcoms began portraying dads as goofballs and often they were the butt of jokes. Mothers on the other hand were the smart ones and called all the shots. It's no surprise that society now places so little value on fatherhood.
