How Marvel (and DC) can test new heroes before going all-in on them

They try to create new "diverse" heroes, and complain nobody likes them. So they steal the identities of popular heroes and wonder why that doesn't work either. How about just testing out new hero ideas via webcomics and seeing what the fans actually want? Sure beats making excuses and attacking your own audience doesn't it!
