The really trippy mind blowing thing about this, is that the distances are SO huge, but the volcano is SO enormous.

The volcano isn't a couple of blocks away - it's like 20 or 30 K away...

That is what I mean - there are so many things around us all the time that are so "far out" - Wow!" and the distances... at the start, how far away is the volcano from the first row of people? and how far away is the volcano from the guy with the camera? I really can't judge it.... more of a half arsed guess... but if you look around on the ground, the rocks everywhere, they are say, around the size of car engine blocks... and what is the usual "safe distance" from an erupting volcano... And when the HUGE pulse of lava was topping the cone - well when I used to work in a foundy and we would pull out crucibles of brass (40 / 50 Kg?) the crucibles were so hot, they would make the clothing on your forearms start smoking..... and how much heat was coming off that wall of lava and how far away was it? I can't deal with the scale - the SIZE of the cone, the DISTANCE, the width and height of the laval fall, over the edge of the cone... I get into overwhelm... What do you think?

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: I think #1. It's WAY over my pea brain. #2. The heat must be incomprehensible! #3. If you can't figure it out then I don't stand a chance!...lol

But it was quite a sight to behold! It looked awesome on a screen, I couldn't even imagine seeing it with my own eyes!

@bigintol03: Just scrolling up and looking at the still picture - "Farrrrrrrrrrrkkkk!" - No wonder people are worried about the super volcanos that are like the Yellow Stone eruptions - and the ones that built the Siberian Steppes - Go through this list - there is a number of different types of eruptions from explosive (huge blasts) to ones that are just fucking huge and pour out enormous amounts of lava, that cover like 1/2 of Russia / USA / India - there is so much I didn't know... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/....List_of_largest_volc /////// I only knew about these ones... and vague bits and pieces about a few others.. //// https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siberian_Traps //// https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellowstone_hotspot /////// https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/....Huckleberry_Ridge_Tu -------- These are like "fuck?" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Toba ------- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resurgent_dome ------ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/....Columbia_River_Basal ------ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/....Category:Supervolcan

@bigintol03: I have come to learn ONE thing... if it is more than I can carry in my hand, it's basically beyond my comprehension. However so is everything under a microscope.

As a monster jet of lava is shooting upwards from ~ 5:16 - How high do you think it's going... I mean the camera is a LONG way off - and there is no way to scale it.... But it's blasting upwards - I suppose you could calculate it.... even reasonably apporximately.... from the time the jet reaches it's full height and the time it takes to leave the crater to the top of the fountain.... Like the pressure in a garden hose...
