Human Essentialism and Mystification

One thing I repeatedly encounter in discussions on transhumanism and the like is the obscure reference to losing something "essential" or essentially human where this essentially human is never well defined. I want to address that here and posit that there is nothing essential about humans, at least in any mysterious sense.
