Humpback Whale Set Free from Marine Debris Entanglement

Workers from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration worked to free the female whale so she could return to swim unhindered with her calf.
The responders said there was over 150 meters of line wrapped around the humpback’s head, with marine debris making the disentanglement particularly tricky.
The whale was freed just off Maui and swam away with its calf and a male counterpart.
