@The Realist Philosopher: well, the weather is similar, far North Upper peninsula MI. Caravan is insulated and has propane but needs to be made livable for winter. Lots of snow, but cabin has kitchen and shower etc...(where I live). I have a cat and am a jazz sax player, nearing 60 yrs white guy Irish Catholic background. The caravan overlooks a creek and needs to be leveled as it was only just pulled to this forever now spot, but is a great setting. You'd likely have some physical work to do as I have my own load, but of course am willing to assist when can.

If we get along you could live there indefinitely so long as we discuss weird color of law squatter's schemes etc...(token rent payment for example)
