I keep and collect all the old DC's and driver disks that came with the Printers I had in the past and if I see an old printer I grab it for free or very little and get it going with these CD, did you know that all these list's of printer drives they had is bollocks, Just find one that works, probably not even for your printer and the problem is solved, there will be at least one that will work in some way? (has to be the same make though).

Love the message when you put in no name ink in "are you sure you want to use this ink as its not genuine"

@SoloMan Zone: Ink is ink, it was HP that started all this shnit about 25 years or more ago. when they fitted that chip thing to the cartridge. Before that it was not a problem, but then you could still buy daisy wheels and dot matrix printer's with that unforgetible sound when they printed off. It's all a racket today like every fucking aspect of life is!

@SoloMan Zone: my first printer was a dot matrix that I was given and I ran with Win 3.0 or 3.1? It also came with about 50 miloes of that paper with the tear if film like edge on it that used to drive it by "COG" on the printer wheel! lol! It saw me through college and actually I wish I still had it, I passed it on to one of the younger students when I bought my first Epson. It still worked fine and still had stacks of paper with it as well.

I don't do wireless because I have the printer by the PC. But once I did do it and like you it was difficult to connect - however I found (I could be wrong) but I found if you install it via the printer USB Cable and driver on the PC, after that the wireless seems to work ok but I don't bother with it, I like being on the ambilocal so to say! lol! Another thing I do is refill the cartridges. The problem is once in many cases with the printers today that the little chip is disconnected you cant use YOUR refilled cartridge, but don't despair as you simply think ahead to a point where you don't have to remove it from the printer at all. what you do with the new cartridge you are going to replace (a genuine one). is prepare it but making the refill holes and putting the little rubber bung in before you install it. Being a genuine cartridge it will recognize it when the ink gets a low ink warning (which often means their is actually plenty of ink left), You refill the cartridge in situ in the printer by removing the bungs and using the refill ink. When I was at college I used to years ago use black or blue Fountain pen ink, that did work fine, it was cheap but the quality was a little faded. Cant do that for Doc's now. Again the got ya by the bollock's - or have they? Da - da - da!!!!!!!! ( Also some of the older printers have a small (factory reset button) that sometimes works? I've pulled PC's and printers out of dumpsters and got a couple of good years out of them, but newer stuff seems to be fucked but it's worth a try?

@SoloMan Zone: I still dumpster dive and find shit to fix, It's fun to do. I've only ever bought one brand new PC but had bettert one's come out of the skip/dumpster. I did by an HP unit desktop of ebay a few months ago complete with a certified WIN 11 installed, Ex business £38, just the PC non of the other stuff. Idont use it much as I don't like WIN 11 for a start. It tried to AI everything and far from helping it blood y slows everything down. from October 2025 WIN 10 wont be supported anymore so I guess I'd better get used to it?

I gave up on Epson a long time ago, because as you say their software and operation is to complicated, ubreliable and I'm sure they were fotted with a "Death Chip" as they only lasted about 18 months every time. I have a cheap canon Pixma now I hardly ever use it and I bought some spare cartridges as a part of the deal. But like you I never use the bloody thing apart from just printing a test page occasionally, BUT i guess it's there if needed? This canon is both wifi and USB lead and seeing as it's next to the PC I simply use the USB lead method of connection. for a cheap printer the picture quality isn't bad either. But like everything it probably has a shelf life but as I say it's there? with Epson they started going down the shitter about 15 or more years ago, the early ones were great value for money I still have one old one in the loft that works but you cant get a driver fo0r it so they have you by the bollocks which ever way you look at it! lol!

@SoloMan Zone: I used to make cut out and fold models with Photoshop some years ago and sell them on ebay, but I moved on since then, I prefer to make models the old way with card a ruler and my imagination, and I rather paint them than print them.
