now i agree with Luke that we should always demand more from the games that are being made for us, and we should fight for them to fix their shit, i don't like having to find mods to fix their game for all the performance issues or glitches or issues the game has, mods are supposed to be for the fun shit, you shouldn't need to get mods to fix the fucking game, that is the game developer's responsibility and always will be, so they have no right to complain that nobody wants to play their fucking game when they leave it in a shitty state, that's the natural consequence to their own actions in leaving the game broken on release.
this is the only way for them to learn, so critical feedback is always a good thing.
here is how this will go down, most people will avoid that quest mod and never purchase it, then one day in the future at some point, bethesda will do yet another update and it will be starfield special edition and all the mods they couldn't sell they will lump them into the special edition and they might offer it for free or they might try to get something out of it, like how they handled skyrim SE to AE, they lumped a bunch of creation club content most people avoided like the black plague into that version, most people didn't want to move over to the new version of the game because their mods didn't work on the new version so they stayed back on the previous version, however console players are always subject to these updates regardless what they do, bethesda always has them in that contract to get the auto update nonsense, on PC if an auto update happens the gamers at least have a alternative and just go to the nexus or whatever site is offering the downgrade patcher and get it done, yes it sucks we have to always fix their shit updates and downgrade our games but at least we have the option, we aren't screwed like the console gamers.
when i learned about the appminifest option i instantly did the same tweak to my skyrim, because i didn't want another forced update. i forgot which appmanifest it was, they are numbered but if you google the appmanifest and the corresponding number, in a search, it should tell you which game it's for, but to be honest with you, i feel like all game appmanifests need to have this setting set to read only to prevent the stupid updates we all hate to all hell.
@KEEPER: one of the things i like about GoG is that the DRM (forced online) bullshit will not be tollerated even for mods... i do wish GoG would start a mod repository for games though. also,, bethesda including stuff they could not sell in an update does seem to be par for the course like the enclave stuff with FO4.
@sbseed: yeah there has been more than a few times i have considered GOG, in many ways i hate the direction steam is headed, but steam offers so much support in other things, but on the other hand i have noticed GOG does offer the diffrent versions of all bethesda games, so if you don't want skyrim AE you don't have to get that upgrade, you can choose SE, and it's the same with FO4 and that damn broken update they call next gen lol. i could also see GOG becoming something that would be willing to host mods, but GOG is DEI infected just like the nexus, for a long time i didn't know that CDPR owns GOG, but when i learned this is also when i learned that pretty much means they are DEI infected so like the nexus i wouldn't want to support them.
@sbseed: there is another modding site i recently learned about, i'm not sure i told you about it or not, but this site just straight up steals everything from the nexus lol, their only motivation is to hurt the nexus, they might have DEI content, but that's not really their goal with the mods they just like a machine download and upload everything from the nexus and put it on their website for all to use if they want lol, anyway the site is called DLCFUN this is the FO4 stuff they have. https://dlcfun.com/en/fallout-4
@KEEPER: the only real problems i have are with linux and only 1 mod manager working with FO4... the rest are outdated still looking for the old ini file that does not exist anymore and definitely does not exist on linux. everything is contained in the base folder or it usually doesnt work, this is usually setup via a 3rd party game launcher/downloader like heroic or lutris.
@sbseed: i was told by some other mod authors on the nexus they use Linux Wine, for modding their bethesda games, that's the one i will get, but idk i'm kind of a idiot with computers lol like i hate to admit it, but moving from windows to Linux might be very tough for me to make the move, but they told me the best rout is to use wine as it's the closest version of Linux to windows in how the file structure works.
i don't think it's enough yet, and it likely won't be enough for most people for a long while, like they might think people will come back after a year went by and sure they did fix some shit in the game but it's never enough when it comes to bethesda.
i will say one thing that is good, this is the first time bethesda in their history of games where they have attempted to fix their games without making that be solely on the modders, that is one good thing i can say, now will that be enough for most people, probably not, but i'm glad they are doing this because it's the right way to move forward.
now having said this, i still have not purchased this game, i don't own it and have not played it, but i would like to, i just don't think it will be worthwhile for a very long time, if i were to guess how long that will be, i would guess 5 years from now, will their games still be filled with bugs galore, yes will their games still be jank to all hell, yes, nothing will ever fix that issue in their games.
what Luke was talking about "turning off your brain" i hate to admit this but it's true even with their older titles, even when people give so much praise for FONV or FO3 games in their series of games, these games are not perfect and they never will be because bethesda abandoned them, but what if they came back and fixed them?
like that's what i would want them to do, i don't like how they have been handling things in the past when they release a game in a broken state never to fix the game ever again, and just let the modders fix their fuckups, i demand much more of them, i expect as a paying customer for them to fix their shit, the things in their games i don't like can always be modded out, so the pronoun nonsense doesn't bother me, because it can easily be modded out, you simply can't do this with other woke games because they don't release the modding tools, also you don't have to go to the nexus to get these mods, there are a bunch of other sites who will offer the mods that the nexus won't.

unless the mod is almost 30 hours of gameplay and quests added then it is NOT WORTH IT for 7/8 bucks, fuck off you money grubbing assholes.
toddler howard can suck donkey, actually probably already does...
yea, stupid shit and stilling not going to buy that crap...
