If your really good at statistics - in a calculus kind of way - this is a very good way to work out the failure rate of the people who come to AA / NA.
.
If you can't get your head around this, get a competent statician for help.
.
If you have a regular group - averaging around 100 people.
.
Every week, around 6 people disappear, and 6 new people take their place.
.
So that gives you the 50% gone by 3 months number, and the remainder slowly eroding, leaving only 5 of the original 100, picking up their one year sober medallion.
.
However, over the year, the group numbers remain more or less constant.
.
While the churn rate is horrendous.
.
And this is exactly the kind of analyisis that most people "never get".
.
12th step fellowships are not social clubs.
.
All the people who kick people out of meetings and get into all the gossip, go under big time.
.
Me and a friend compiled a lot of records, that were produced by AA and NA, to prove our point.
.
