Judge Napolitano - Aaron Maté
Aaron Maté is a Canadian journalist and political commentator known for his fearless, evidence-based reporting and independent analysis. He is the host of Pushback with Aaron Maté, a show on The Grayzone, where he explores U.S. foreign policy, media narratives, and issues of international conflict. Maté has a background in investigative journalism, having worked with Democracy Now!, The Real News Network, Vice, and Al Jazeera English, and has contributed to The Nation magazine.
In 2019, he won the Izzy Award for outstanding achievement in independent media for his coverage of the now-discredited Trump-Russia collusion claims. Maté has also reported extensively on the Syrian conflict, including critical coverage of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons’ (OPCW) handling of the 2018 Douma chemical attack investigation, a position that led him to testify at United Nations Arria meetings hosted by Russia and China.
He was born into a family deeply rooted in human rights and humanitarian work—his father is Dr. Gabor Maté, a physician and best-selling author known for his work on addiction and trauma, and his mother Rae Maté is a visual artist and illustrator of children's books. Raised in a household of thoughtful activism, Aaron Maté brings a calm, rigorous, and principled approach to journalism, challenging dominant narratives and advocating for transparency, peace, and accountability.
