I'm happy they didn't kill it unnecessarily. All too often animals get killed due to human Idiocy. I'm no animal rights person but I think animals deserve respect.

If you want to hear an interesting story look up "Ken Allen". It was a male orangutan at the San Diego Zoo. He was also called "Hairy Houdini" because he liked escaping his enclosures. Plus he was very chill.

In Europe it's very rare that escaped animals get gunned down.. They mostly try to put the animals asleep and bring them back to the owners..

@Councilof1: The thing is that in Canada and the US they are vast territories with wild life.. And much more wild life than in Europe.. That's why they shoot them down.. But Europe got themselves into a some kind of hunt against the wolves and bears during the 16th 17th century.. Because of the amount of people who were killed by these animals while going in the woods.. The local governments of that time paid wolves and bear hunters a fortune / dead wolf or bear.. That's how a lot of species got exterminated.. Now only they decided to protect these animals.. And now we see the wolves coming back (but small ones).. Bears stay in the mountain areas mostly in Switzerland, Italy, Serbia and then in East Europe you'll see way more wild life than in the west.. If you want to have an idea of what a real western european wolf looked like.. Go to Russia in Siberia.. They still have them.. These wolves are massive !!
