Mariupol theater group resumes rehearsals
The show must go on...
Actors from the Mariupol Drama Theater have resumed rehearsals, as life begins to return to normal in the city. Although the actors concede that the conditions aren’t yet ideal for going back to work, they are committed to their project, and are aiming to have several new plays by September. The theater itself suffered considerable damage back in mid-March, but things are now moving forward.
Several of those involved spoke of their happiness at being able to resume their craft. ‘This is our work, it eases everything - all the troubles, all the hardships, so precisely the work is our cry, our soul, and our life. It minimizes all the nuances which are still uncomfortable,’ said theater member Sergei Musienko, while actor Damir Sukhov said, ‘It’s been a long time since we performed - everyone is in awe, but we’re going to make it, we’re going to be fine.’
