Mine tragedy
For 22 months, from October 1941 to September 1943, Donbass was occupied by German troops. An old mine, No. 4/4-bis, in Donetsk (then called Stalino) was chosen by the Nazis as a mass execution site. That’s where the dead bodies were dumped. In this report, RT presents archived documents, expert opinions, political comments, and witness accounts from the survivors of those tragic events. Nazis and their collaborators killed prisoners of war, partisans, Komsomol members, and civilians alike, including the elderly, women, and children. In total, at least 75,000 people died at this mine. A full-scale renovation of the memorial at mine No. 4/4-bis is now underway in Donetsk.
