The only appropriate sentence for the massacre of 17 innocent people is the death penalty. That the jury had a single holdout refuse to authorize a capital sentence represents a miscarriage of justice.

My prayers are with the Parkland families.

I understand the call for capital punishment. However, the Parkland shooter is 24 years old. He'll spend the rest of his life in prison; let's say until age 74. That's 50 years worth of being beaten and raped by the other inmates who typically don't take kindly to convicts who've hurt or killed children. He doesn't just suffer once and then it's done and over as would happen with the death penalty. Instead, he suffers nearly every day for 50 years. Death is too easy, too good for him. Let him rot.
