Truth and utility are not two sides of the same coin and sometimes they do not complement each other. The value of something inasmuch as it aids an individual in life may or may not correlate with the truth but ultimately it has to be reduced down to its utlity. Would that we all could be believers.

This leads to the colloquial "My Truth" that was derived from situational ethics and post modern philosophy. Not a win.
