North Korean soldiers ‘reduced to tears’ over Kim praise
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un gave a speech in Pyongyang on Thursday, praising soldiers and army medics after ‘beating’ the country’s Covid-19 pandemic. The speech, broadcast on North Korean state television, was met with tears and emotional displays from the assembled soldiers.
Thousands of medics from the Korean People’s Army, who had been dispatched to the ‘emergency anti-epidemic front,’ were discharged after Kim declared ‘victory’ over Covid-19. State media reported that Kim thanked those who had ‘displayed the indefatigable spirit and the invincible combat strength of our army.’
