Maybe the kid is a shit to step daddy - and this is the go to bed hungry tonight treatment.
I have no idea of the whole story.
But sometimes MEN - with all their issues, and the MOTHERS with all their issues, and the mothers CHILDREN - with all their issues, it can be a really difficult situation, and until the full side of the story comes out - it's important to hold back on formulating opinions based upon assumptions.
This is the way things go when damaged people damage people.
Maybe the guy isn't a real prick, he is just trying to get through life the best he knows how.....
It does not make him wrong, it just means he has never had to evolve to the point of questioning the family rules, he was raised with, and change things because he has too, or die / spiral into oblivion.
