Thank you so much The Pinball Wizard sure plays a mean pinball Fuck yeah.
Better than anything the kids of today play or come up with.
Pinball is a great game I myself was on a tear on the Dirty Harry Pinball Machine and was easily going to beat the high score until the machine had a technical fault and kept Faulting over and over such a shame as I had a blast and Pinball is amazing when it goes right.
Nice. I kept playing them as well, even after two thirds of the arcade had been switched to the new fangled "video" games. They had the Kiss pinball, so I played the shit out of that one, obviously, a couple others. I did eventually drift to the videos. Moon Patrol was fun.
@Drums_McBashington: Sort of like 8 track car cassettes...... vanished into the mists of time.... I think it was the LP needle movement split into 4 channels, instead of 2, by up - down - left - right composing an individual channel...
@Drums_McBashington: Yeah the great Quadrophonic Revolution in Audio Systems..... An interesting blip on the radar of history and everyone kept right on going wit business as usual, and the two channel stereo reigned supreme..... I think it had more to do with things like people didn't get their rocks off, seated in the immersive experience in the center of a room, with a speaker positioned in each corner - for the whole performance, and every time you play the album...... Most people settle for a decent stereo, which is easy to set up, sits up against one wall, without cables being in the way, and get up and do other things...... Or they plug it into the movie player, so you get decent bass and volume ---- The purist ideology fizzes out on the general population..
@Drums_McBashington: It's like the Dolby 5.1 surround sound system..... I mean that gear is really great, but most people just can't be fucked with it, beyond a decent stereo and big enough screen.
@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: Exactly, this stuff was for hardcore audiophiles, of which, there simply wasn't enough of 'em to support the tech. Gen Pop isn't that bright, the inferior VHS tape beat out the Betamax, by popular demand. They put bubbles in soap because they make woman feel like they're cleaning better. Simpletons.
@Drums_McBashington: I had an uncle who was an obsessive audio nut - in the early 70's. And I got the royal tour of his stereo --- I must have been like 8 years old.... So I will make this up to illustrate the point because the facts were not remebered, and it was a long time ago... But the needle, the arm, the pick up, the weights, the almost frictionless bearings, the special motor, the dampening in the turn table bed, the whole isolation of the unit and turn table from vibration, all the magical things in the amplifier, the cables, and the speakers and their cabinets.... and the vibration isolation - and the bare stereo room, with a lounge and a rug... all totally magical..... And it was all imported from Europe and half the price of a house.... And it was all really good, and it was.... The sound was absolutly brilliant.... (I can't really remember it - but he did turn it a bit) A healthy bit of neurotic obsessive compulsive is a good thing.... And it was wayyyyyyyyy better than shit cheap stereos - infinitely better - but it was also like $25,000 in 1973 (Making that up too - sort of) ----- BUT most people settle for fair quality, at an reasonable price... And decent bookshelf speakers like BOSE are very fucking good, just for general listening in the room or within a room or two - and they don't take up much space...
@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: Haha. Nice, and close enough to the truth, no doubt. I've had a friend or two over the years that took things that seriously. One had the stereo den and the other two thirds of basement, records. He had a better selection than his local record store. I shared a house with a work buddy years back, fine guitarist, built a recording studio in the basement. 4 track Tascam reel, a 'I can't remember how many channel' mixing board, state of the art cassette deck, odds, ends, & misc. equipment. Good enough to produce a quality demo tape, most bands just used it for rehearsals. Was a great place to listen to music.
