Protesters chant Russia on streets of coup-hit Niger

A crowd of protesters has been filmed on the streets of Niger, chanting ‘Russia’ and holding the Russian flag. The country is in turmoil after a military-backed coup saw President Mohamed Bazoum overthrown, the borders closed, and a nationwide curfew put in place. The West has been largely critical of the coup, with Washington denouncing what it calls ‘efforts to subvert Niger’s constitutional order by force.’
