These day's I keep a really good distance and my speed down especially if I see a femon driving (I use the term DRIVIMNG very loosely)!0 After all you get the chance when the road opens up to a duel carriage way or whatever, so un needed risks are limited.
My Motorcycle dealer gives me a Curiously bike for the time my bike is in for anything including MOT's and I get a phone call to say it's ready. Take pressure of them and I get a like for like bike for transport for the day. When I last took my car in for an MOT some years ago I noticed and I don't know if you have noticed the list of a couple of Engine light Fails on the chart their are for Car's, I mean Bikes only have about 5 or 6 fail engine lights but cars have a massive sheet of fail points on the chart, This is why I went back to a Motorcycle that is now my main vehicle. Also most of the stuff I can fix or correct myself and check with the little yellow box I have for the CPU sensor's, I can also reset them myself to factory and at the MOT I get the latest Patches if any are available as part of the MOT. My RE Meteor is the best motorcycle I've ever owned, I also have a little Kymco 125 City great for shopping and stuff, really reliable and made in Taiwan, still got 18 month on that before it's first MOT. Again do most of my own upkeep on it, a little knowledge goes a long way and Fuel injection and CDI helps a hell of a lot.
@SoloMan Zone: Appeciate that buddy. I'm retired now eso the bike isn't essential but useful and Im was once a M/C Courier so rain has never bothered me. What with full ABS and stuff as standard now it's a damned sight safer than in my courier days in the 80's. having a car for me anyways no longer makes economic sense as I can pick and choose when I go out. The Scooter I don't even get wet on it is so well designed to deflect water and I ware an oilproofed apron for using with acids, and this simple industrial garment keeps me totaally dry as well.
Run the tires a long as you can before replacing them, I've even cut those little knobbly bits down before now and try sand make them last until jut before the MOT, I mean my Mileage is so low these days anyways, I've had the Royal Enfield nearly 4 years and the wear on both tires is virtually nothing, but I drive through chicane's in a straight line because I can, and I don't brake if I don't need to just engine braking and of course keeping the speed down helps a lot to save tires, be gentle and easy on the steering as well can save thousands of miles on a set. Although talking motorcycles I can get a good 5 maybe 6 years out of as set of tires if I'm careful as well.
The reaon why paint never maqtches these days is because modern car paints are water based and then laquored so a perfect match is almost impossible outside of a complete respray that is? Maybe when you have T Cut the car laquor the sprayed areas? Works on Motorcycles OK.
