Having grown up in a Republican household, and having done lots of independent unbiased research, I'm especially qualified to explain American politics.

Correction, this is a constitutional republic.

Besides a constitutional republic, this is a democratic republic, not either/or. Therefore *you* stand corrected.

@KCxSunbeam: There might be hints of democratic principles, but nonetheless the founding fathers created a constitutional republic. What it's devolved into now is nothing near what they envisioned for this country.

@West3rnSpy: No, not "hints". Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, & John Quincy Adams, who were elected/served from 1800-1829, were all specifically of the "Democratic-Republican" party. And I'm well aware how far removed the USA is from their principles. It has devolved into Sodom & Gomorrah.

@KCxSunbeam: Okay well then I'll agree with you there, that those people were of that nature. But the country as a whole was founded as a constitutional republic. The people have allowed it to slip into the dumpster fire it is today. Nowhere in the pledge of allegiance did it say anything to do with democracy or democratic anything, just "to our republic for which it stands". Yet our mainstream media chants that this is a 'democracy' so much that the people have forgotten that this is a constitutional republic..... And quite clearly it's not standing anymore because the people are allowing the government to wield power they shouldn't have for the false sense of security.

@West3rnSpy: As a Trump supporter, I know that the Democratic party is in the toilet & has been for some time. But that doesn't justify an emotional knee-jerk reaction against America's democracy . The USA's democracy aspect is clearly reflected in the founding father's words "We the People". Why? Because it meant *all* the people. Actually all White people. But the consensus was changed to all people period after Lincoln. The USA was also founded on the idea that "all men are created equal". Again, all White people, then expanded to all people period after Lincoln. This idea is the very cornerstone of Democracy.

@KCxSunbeam: We are clearly at an impasse. As it has been demonstrated by your cognitive dissonance of what our country was founded as and what a constitutional republic is and how our founding fathers had great contempt for democracy. You are a traitor to the republican party.
