Rescue operation ongoing amid rubble following quake in Türkiye and Syria

Hundreds have been killed and thousands more injured after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck south-eastern Türkiye, near the Syrian border. The quake, thought to possibly be Türkiye’s largest on record, hit at just after 4am local time, near the city of Gaziantep, and was felt by millions across Türkiye, Syria, Lebanon, Cyprus and Israel.
