S. Korea riles China with Ukraine reconstruction deal

South Korea could elbow out China as it’s set to play a major role in the reconstruction of Ukraine, with the Asian country’s president making a surprise visit to Kiev over the weekend. The meeting with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky resulted in agreements for Korean companies – although the development didn’t go down well with Beijing, which accused its regional rival of trying to cash-in on the conflict.

We hear from a senior fellow at the Taihe Institute think tank, Einar Tangen, who says the issue of who will be picking up the bill is crucial.
