Sentenced to 50 years in prison, WITH NO EVIDENCE!?!?

Though this story had a happy ending, everything else about it is special-ed grade bullshit. Our criminal law system is SUPPOSED to operate under the presumption of innocence, so how exactly can someone be convicted WITH LITERALLY NO EVIDENCE?
