South Africa classifies crypto as a financial product

Africa continues to move towards a crypto future, with a South African supermarket chain now allowing payments in bitcoin. Meanwhile, retail transfers made up 80% of transactions below $1,000 over the past year on crypto exchanges in Sub-Saharan Africa. Oluwasseun Adeyanju, blockchain and crypto researcher from Nigeria, tells RT that Africans see the crypto market as the primary way to build wealth and preserve their savings.
