Southern right whales gather along Argentina's Patagonian coast
Thousands arrived in Argentina's Patagonian coast to see the southern right whales. The creatures are the only species in the world that are protected from the whaling industry. Every year, they migrate from icy feeding grounds off Antarctica to warmer climates, to breed and nurse their babies. The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) said that there are up to 10,000 southern right whales in the southern hemisphere in three sub-populations, with nursery areas found in the waters off Argentina, Australia, and South Africa.
