One of my old advisors once pointed out that if you want relatively straight people to share a house with, putting in the advertisement "Wanted people to share a house with. Non Smoking, Non Drinking House Hold". He said this will eliminate an enormous amount of people who are not addicts, because almost all people drink alcohol - in a non problematic way, but almost all alcoholics smoke. Very few alcoholics are non smokers.

So your junkie brother offering a pack of cigarettes for breakfast, and wine etc., is a dead give away.....

So we have Tate the Neurotic and Tate the piss pot.
