Just after 10 seconds.....
The original carburetor Spitfire , when pulling negative G's (sharp dives and inverting), would be starved of fuel during the manouver, and then it would flood the engine when the plane was righted.
IN this video, you can see the motor cut out when starved, and then shooting out black soot when over fed fuel.
Turn the sound right up and then watch very carefully.
Beatrice figured out a way to limit the fuel surge into the engine.... Very Clever.
It generally kept the motors running, instead of them stalling or shutting down.
