Scholars have had written debates over our rich history, it’s shown people have benefited.
This minimise the tendencies of individuals to use debate tactics and sophistry to score cheap points and blind their audience with terminologies or belittling their interlocutor.
There should be some understanding and awareness via the process of that one will get closer to the truth rather than this be for entertainment for the people who agree with either of us for this discussion be about one side claiming victory.

You can't spread the truth by lying. Debate has always been a shit-show. Even in ancient Athens, the philosophers, who were the scientists of their day, complained about the sophists' deceitful debate tactics and disregard for the truth.
