58:15 This is where TFM went a step beyond his level of knowledge; Yes, you have neurons in your digestive apparatus. You know where else you have neurons? literally everywhere else, for the most part. NEURON=NERVE. Neuron =/= thought. Your thoughts don't change based on "microbes", what changes is the sensorial input/output of the reflex arc. Unless we're stretching the word "thought" to mean any 'feeling' (Temperature/pressure/pain/fine tact/etc.) TFM is catastrophically wrong. That's not how anything works.
He's right about the food cravings & hunger though but that's not "thoughts" in the same way that being in a hot room makes a cold drink more attractive. That's not controlling your thoughts, it's basic homeostasis and as a Taoist, TFM should absolutely know this. Anyway, I believe he's talking about the 10th cranial nerve (Vago in Spanish. Probably "Vagus" in English). It's a mixed nerve with both sensory & motor functions but not "thought". My bread & butter is the trigeminal nerve though (5th cranial nerve) which I know far better than the vagus. Point being, TFM was doing really well but took it a step too far and began to spew nonsense. JUST SAYING BRO.
TFM embraced Eastern philospophy and religion because he had a fucked up childhood and a non-nurturing whore mother . He rejected Western thinking for Buddhism which is a product of hive-minded, collectivist Asians. No thanks. I know I have a self and a soul.
