Oil has been a massive long risk going on almost 2 years now. The entire market is being propped up by deep Saudi cuts that go well beyond their proportional share as an OPEC member.

My guess is that Saudis are maintaining these cuts to keep Russia from losing in Ukraine as part of a backroom pact.

Saudis could turn the spigots on tomorrow and send oil down $40 in less than a month. No moonshot on a Mideast conflagration is worth sitting on that kind of downside risk.
